The tables provided in this electronic document have been compiled to act as a rapid referenece guide for the selection of the most appropriate and commonly used advanced composite material prepreg system for a given application on a racing car. Classification is, primarily, in terms of product application, initial cure temperature (LTM®, MTM® or HTM®) and the final Tg achievable after a complete cure cycle. Please refer to the full range of ACG Product Selector Guides for a more comprehensive range of products. General indications on mechanical performance and processing are indicated within the tables. Hyperlinks are provided so that you may refer to the data sheets of all products referenced within this PSG. Technical Data Sheets (TDSs) and tip sheets are also provided to give additional information on handling materials plus making and maintaining tools. With the requirements of the motorsport composite design, stress and research engineers in mind, ACG has prepared and collated an extensive database of mechanical properties. This database characterises a wide range of resin and fibre combinations which are frequently used on racing cars. The data are comprehensive and ultimately prepared for finite element analysis. The data can be extended to new fibre/resin/test combinations as required. This information is available on request through ACG technical support staff. ACG prides itself on providing the highest level of responsiveness, technical support and targeted R&D within the motorsport industry. The company can call on over 25 years' experience in both component and materials design, development and supply. ACG’s Composites Technology Centre is a dedicated research facility geared to the specific requirements of the motor racing industry, e.g. the rapid completion of product or application specific research programmes. Customers are encouraged to contact ACG’s Technical Sales Department with any composite enquiries, where you are guaranteed a timely response. |
