Umeco is pleased to sponsor The BLOODHOUND SSC Project.

Umeco is the official composites design and manufacturing partner on The BLOODHOUND SSC Project, an international education initiative focussed around a 1000mph land speed record attempt. Advanced Composites Group, one of the Umeco Composites' companies, is heading the composites part of the build programme.

Using high-performance prepreg materials from Advanced Composites Group (ACG), Advanced Composites Engineering (ACE), the Group’s engineering division, is manufacturing the entire front section (monocoque and nose), the air intake and the rear wheel fairings. ACE’s remit also includes constructing the master models and tooling from which these critical elements of the car’s bodywork and structural components will be produced. All of these parts are vital to the aerodynamic performance and stability of the car.

Speaking about ACG's involvement in the project, Mark Chapman, Chief Engineer for The BLOODHOUND Project, said: ‘It was clear very early on that we could build a strong and creative partnership with the ACG team. We valued their input from the start when they helped us optimise our designs to make the best use of ACG’s composites capabilities. We’re looking forward to working closely with them in the coming months as we move beyond the design phase and actually build BLOODHOUND – the world’s ultimate racing car.”
