Laboratory Technician - Middleton, Manchester

The Laboratory Technician role will involve the manufacture, preparation and mechanical testing of various composites for data generation and batch release. Skilled lamination and cure techniques are required as is the ability to run complex mechanical test equipment. The successful candidate will report to the Quality Manager as part of a close-knit Quality Assurance team.

Suitable candidates will possess good communication skills along with a high level of motivation. They must be self-driven and able to work with limited supervision, and are likely to be educated to "A" level standard in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or an equivalent science based subject. However, applicants with some knowledge of chemistry or physics and proven laboratory experience in an industrial environment will be considered. More importantly is a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Full training is available.

Technical Project Manager - Collaborative R&D - Heanor, Derbyshire

Applications are now invited for a Technical Project Manager to join the Collaborative R&D team (within Umeco Composites Structural Materials). Reporting to the Collaborative R&D Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying potential project opportunities, preparing project proposals and providing both project management and technical leadership within these programmes.

Successful applicants are likely to be qualified to at least honours degree level in polymer chemistry, materials science or composite engineering disciplines, and should ideally have previous project management experience, preferably in composites or another advanced materials-based environment. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate the capability to drive tasks through to completion against time constraints.

Good interpersonal skills are essential in order to successfully manage multi-disciplinary teams within the company and also to convey the optimum image of the company to external partners.
