Through its engineering division (Advanced Composites Engineering [ACE]), and its design facility in the Advanced Composite Group (ACG) Technology Centre, the Group offers a comprehensive, flexible composite tooling design and manufacturing service that takes tooling projects from initial concept through all stages, including the design, evaluation, the selection of appropriate tooling prepreg materials, tooling prototyping and final manufacture and delivery, regardless of size, complexity, specification, market sector or global location.
Using a wide range of custom-formulated, application specific resin pre-impregnated (prepreg) carbon and glass fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP and CFRP) composite tooling prepreg materials, manufactured in the Group's own facilities, the Group can accommodate all customers’ requirements, including the application of low, medium, high and variable temperature curing systems in epoxy and bismaleimide (BMI) resins custom-formulated to suit the intended end application.
In addition to providing a complete range of composite tooling prepregs, and master model materials and ancillaries, which have been proven in our own manufacturing environment and through prolonged use in demanding applications at our customers’ facilities, ACG can support customers who wish to manufacture their own tooling.
ACG's confidential design service encompasses CATIA CAD, distortion and dimensional software and FE analysis. Together with industry-standard or customised for purpose training programmes, technical support and advice from experienced technicians, and full composites and application technology transfer, customers can develop the confidence to manufacture their own high quality, cost-effective, high throughput, robust, workshop standard tooling for use in a wide range of demanding, productionised or prototype applications.
With over 25 years’ experience manufacturing tooling for a diverse range of markets, including: Formula One; automotive, mainstream and luxury sports/supercar; marine, both world class ocean-going and mainstream boats and yachts; alternate (wind/tidal/wave/ocean/green/renewable) energy; general industrial; and aerospace, where accuracy and a long working life is essential, ACG has a wealth of experience to draw on, and is available to impart this know-how to its customers through its bespoke technology transfer packages.
