ACG offers a range of woven glass fibre reinforced products (GFRP), including glass reinforced epoxy systems that meet the requirements of NEMA grades G10 for general purpose use and NEMA grade G11 when high thermal resistance to Class F (155°C [300°F]) is demanded.
Traditional flame retardant grades are also available. Based on brominated epoxy resin systems, these grades meet the requirements of NEMA grades FR4 and FR5, while also conforming to Underwriters Laboratory Inc. UL94Vo.
Halogen-free flame retardant grades of fibre glass reinforced plastic (FGRP), composed of glass epoxy, phenolic glass and silicone glass, are included in our range. The phenolic glass reinforced prepreg (pre-impregnated) material conforms to NEMA grade G3, whilst the silicone glass fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) conforms to NEMA grade G7.
ACG can supply melamine glass prepregs that provide high anti-tracking and arc resistance to NEMA grade G5.
ACG offers a full range of polyester glass materials based on styrene-free unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins; flame retardant variants are also available. Offering low cost and rapid turnaround, ACG’s polyester and vinyl ester glass prepregs are ideal for tube rolling and vacuum bag (Out-of-Autoclave [OoA]) processing. Vinyl ester resins are particularly important as they provide excellent corrosion and chemical resistance.
ACG has a broad range of glass reinforced materials specifically developed for high temperature applications, including extremely high performance epoxy, polyimide/bismaleimide (BMI) and cyanate ester resins.
Substrate selection is not restricted to woven glass fabrics. On the contrary, ACG offers a full range of woven carbon fibre products. By far the largest group of products is based on epoxy carbon fibre fabrics, but phenolic resin impregnated woven carbon fibre fabrics are available; these are particularly suitable for use as a precursor for carbon-carbon composites.
ACG impregnates many other synthetic woven fabrics made from polyester, nylon and aramid (Nomex®, Kevlar®, etc) fibres. In addition, fabrics produced from natural fibres, i.e. cotton, jute and basalt, are frequently used and make our product range all-embracing, providing customers with an unrivalled choice with options that cater for all markets and applications.
ACG is not restricted to using woven materials. On the contrary, unidirectional products based on glass fibre and carbon fibre are also available, and, while epoxy resins are the most popular, ACG offers a wide selection based on phenolic resin systems. In addition, ACG has the capability to impregnate a variety of non-woven mat fabrics and surface veils.
To encompass all market sectors and applications, ACG also impregnates a vast range of paper products, including CeQuin™ inorganic and Nomex® aramid papers using epoxy resins for electrical applications, and also high quality Kraft papers using melamine resins for decorative laminate applications.
