Design

The Group carries out design support in a number of different forms and with a range of end uses in mind. A comprehensive tool design and specification service is available to customers where composite tooling solutions are required. Structural composite component design can also be completed, and ACG has been involved in a number of projects where a complete package of design and test management has been specified. In addition to the formal design process, ACG is well placed to be able to offer practical, experience-based advice on the application of the company's composite materials. ACG holds ISO9001 approval.

Capabilities have been further enhanced recently with the investment in CATIA workstation facilities. This will enable design work to be completed more efficiently and also to the current aerospace standard. Data communication between ACG and customers is also improved, ensuring that accuracy and confidence in the design process is maximised.

Research and Development

ACG prides itself on the broad scope of product and technology development that is undertaken. Testing

ACG offers a comprehensive mechanical testing service to enable the evaluation of a broad range of composite test coupons to current test standards. In addition, we have a well equipped materials laboratory where a wide range of material conditioning experiments can be carried out. This service is available to our materials and hardware customers as part of the comprehensive scope of composites supply offered by ACG. Full materials qualification programmes are able to be carried out within these facilities. Finally, where it is necessary to scale test coupons up to sub-component or full-component size, this can be project managed and fully reported to the customer.

Loan of Labour

It is often the case in the labour-intensive world of composites part manufacture that peak production demands can be compromised through a lack of skilled labour being available at the correct time. ACG regularly loans labour to its materials customers to help satisfy the unique demands of laminating, trimming/fitting, assembly, pattern build and tool manufacture. Many of our customers have taken advantage of this opportunity and have benefited from the skills which ACG staff bring with them on such short term contracts.
