Advanced Composites Group Ltd (ACG Ltd.), part of Umeco Composites Structural Materials (UCSM) - a division of Umeco plc, is a leading manufacturer of advanced composite carbon and glass fibre (CFRP and GFRP) reinforced plastic pre-impregnated materials (prepregs) custom formulated for component, structural and tooling applications in a diverse range of industries.

ACG Ltd. employs approximately 400 professionals across its carbon and glass reinforced plastic (CFRP and GFRP) manufacturing facilities in Heanor and Manchester in the UK.

Through its own internal product development strategy, and significant involvement in a number of National and International collaborative research programmes, ACG provides its partners and customers with innovative, technologically advanced fibre reinforced materials and manufacturing solutions for complex applications, meeting, and often exceeding, the most demanding technical specifications and delivery schedules.

The Group's strength is its ability to formulate customised resin systems for a diverse range of demanding applications and manufacture and deliver short and long production runs of prepreg materials to a global customer base to demanding timescales.

History

When founded in 1975, ACG focused on the manufacture of parts and structures for the motor racing industry. However, building on this experience, the Group has since diversified into the design and development of advanced resin systems and the manufacture of high quality composite carbon and glass fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP and GFRP) (prepreg) materials. Furthermore, it has expanded its client base and achieved global distribution of its products into technically demanding advanced composite markets, including aerospace, marine, automotive, construction, alternate (green/sustainable) energy, defence, general industrial, medical, and sports and leisure.

Advanced Composite Materials (ACM), which has prepreg manufacturing facilities in Heanor and Manchester in the UK, manufactures and distributes the Group's prepreg materials through a global network of over 40 sales representatives and agents to the motorsport, aerospace, marine, automotive, construction, alternate (green/sustainable) energy and sports and leisure markets. ACM - Heanor is engaged in the manufacture of prepreg materials using epoxy, cyanate ester and bismaleimide (BMI) resin systems, while ACG - Manchester is focused on the manufacture of prepreg materials using phenolic resin systems.
